Golden Buzzer Worthy Performances at the Teahou- no- Coffeehouse!

The inaugural evening talent show ‘Coffee House’ took place last night in the JCR – which was packed with adoring fans from the research village, ready to cheer on the night’s performances. Lincoln's stand-up comedy performance kicked the evening off. The jokes warmed the crowd up for the coming acts – quite literally, laughing that hard burns serious calories. It is said that whilst at Harvard it's appropriate to ask not whether someone plays an instrument but instead how many.

For three plucky Brits in informal evening dress that answer was a resounding 0, but that did not stop them from inflicting their rendition of ‘Sweet Caroline’, much to the audience's dismay. Luckily, however, the research village had more than enough talent to make up for the early shambles. Next up five lucky by-standers were selected for an improvisation competition. The performances seamlessly flowed between songs, all the way from We Will Rock You to the Star Spangled Banner and everything in between. At the end Aleeza emerged as the victor! All in all, from free-flowing piano melodies to lyrical acrobatics in a performance of 'no scrubs' and a Coldplay classic, those present had no shortage of music to sing along to, wave or simply sit back and enjoy.

Harvard students revealed their hidden talents in an improvised jam with patriotism and good humour abound. A huge thanks to all those who organised the evening. We look forward to hearing more in future weeks!
