One, if by land, two, if by sea, and three if by... bat?

On a glorious Sunday evening cricket returned for its first properly organised session on the Harvard Business School lawn. The evening saw formal debuts for a number of up-and-coming research village members eager to demonstrate their skills in front of national selectors rumoured to be hiding behind the windows of the surrounding buildings*. If the promise of playing one of the greatest sports known to humanity in such a prestigious setting weren’t enough, then the promise of free food and drink did the trick as a sizeable group trekked over the river for what promised to be a relaxing evening.

Metaphorical caps awarded, the players took to the field for a brief explanation of the rules and some contentious comparisons between cricket and baseball. Andrew and Alyssa lit up the ground with their hard hitting whilst cool, calm and collected Lincoln absorbed the pressure of high catches with an ease that put him into contention for HSURV’s MVP. Consistent with cricketing tradition, the refreshment breaks were numerous and long, lest anyone overexert themselves in the evening heat. Whilst enthusiasm failed to fade as the session went on, the light unfortunately did and play for the day ended in time for a well-deserved mocktail break in the JCR.
